Opportunity Quilts

Every year Road to California Quilters’ Showcase is pleased to offer guilds an opportunity to display and sell tickets for their raffle quilts.  There are six places per day reserved for the four-day Showcase.  A piped and draped area with S-hooks and a 4’ table will be provided. Each guild will only need to bring a cross-pole to display their quilt.  Guild’s must have someone at their table from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, except on Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Please do not plan to leave early!  When you fill out the form, please indicate your first, second, third and fourth choice of the day you would like to display your quilt.  All forms received are forwarded to our Volunteer Chairman.  Road will hold a random drawing on October 3rd to determine which day(s) each guild will display their quilt.  Notification will be sent after the random drawing to the email address of the guild’s contact person provided on the form.

As a condition of displaying your quilt, the guild must provide 20 hours of white glove service to Road to California for each day your quilt will be displayed.  Only the active days of the Showcase are eligible to fulfill this obligation: Thursday through Saturday, 12:00 PM and after, and Sunday, 10:00 AM and after.  You may schedule five guild members to work four hours each or ten members for two hours each or any combination totaling 20 hours. Note: a minimum shift is 2 hours.  Guild workers who work at least two hours will receive free admission on the day they work as white glove hostesses.  No other compensation or “perks” will be awarded to guild workers fulfilling the raffle quilt obligation.  Hours worked do not have to be on the same day your quilt is displayed.

In California, charities and certain other private nonprofit organizations may conduct raffles to raise funds for beneficial or charitable purposes in the state.  Unless specifically exempted, a nonprofit organization must register with the Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Trusts prior to conducting the raffle and file financial disclosure reports on each raffle event.  Forms for registering and reporting activities are provided on the Attorney General’s web page, http://ag.ca.gov/charities/raffles.php.  If your guild is selected to display your raffle quilt, you must provide documented proof of your current registration.
