2001 – Beginning Long Arm $125

Skill Level: BEGINNER
Learn the basics of longarm quilting in this 6-hour hands-on class. We will cover proper loading of a quilt, a discussion of threads and tension, batting, needles and other important tips. Then we will go over the use of pantographs from the back of the machine to create borders, blocks and pleasing overall designs. In an introduction to the freehand side of the machine we will stitch marked stencil designs. This class is designed to help you save time and gain confidence using your machine. Cameras welcome.

2002 – Cherry Jubilee $80

This 20" x 20" quilt is super easy using the Square in a Square system. Learn Option 2, Option 5 and Option 39 (the trumpet). Don't be frightened away from this delicious quilt by the small size or triangle units. More than half of the quilt will be accomplished during this six-hour class. During class, learn the Square in a Square technique that eliminates the triangle hassle normally associated with cutting and sewing of multiple pieced blocks. You will also enjoy learning professional pressing and rotary cutting techniques and will be amazed at the speed and accuracy of this method.

Say goodbye to the conventional way of using stippling to fill in negative spaces on any quilt. This unique, easy to understand and execute technique will have your creative juices flowing, as you add your own twist to Irena's ideas. From very dense to allover, this unique technique is very forgiving and the visual effects are impressive. No planning ahead and no marking of the background designs is required.

2004 – Fearless Beginnings to Free-Motion Quilting $125

Discover the secrets to smooth quilting and basic quilt designs using your mid-arm machine, longarm machine or home machine. This class is designed to save time and gain confidence. If you are new to machine quilting, or not comfortable with free-motion quilting this class is for you. Pam Clarke, a Longarm machine quilter since 1988 will guide you in this step by step no fuss-method. This workshop will cover how to mark a quilt top, several background stitches, and the seven basic quilt patterns to create unlimited quilt designs. You will be amazed how easy it is to do feathers, hearts, leaves, waves, etc. Using the pre-stamped sample provided in kit practice these designs using the longarm machine. With a little bit of practice you will be amazed how simple this really is. You will be finishing those quilts tops faster then you ever thought possible.

2008 – Quick and Easy Longarm Projects $125

Have you ever waited until the last minute for a gift, but still want to give something unique, fun and made by you? Sue Schmieden of The Quilting Connection, LLC will make your head spin with ideas from this hands-on longarm workshop. Students will be amazed at how easy and fun it is to complete gifts and projects using their longarm or shortarm machine. For those who do not yet own a machine, it will be a fun way to try out a longarm. You will learn Sue's quilt as you go technique using the longarm quilting machine and even finish your own projects in the workshop! At the end of class, Sue will do a trunk show of her quick and easy projects including quilt as you go quilts, table runners, shower curtains, pillows, Christmas Stockings and other quick and easy projects or gifts. Door prizes and Quilting Connection Booth Bucks will be given at the end of the workshop.

2010 – Art & Stitch: Traditional Feathers Go Digital $80

Always admired those beautiful feather patterns? How about making your own? In this hands-on (bring your laptop) computer class you will learn how to digitize traditional feather designs in the easy to use Art and Stitch software, specially written for longarm quilters. You will learn how to draw feathers with the semi-automatic 3pt arc tool, how to create feather designs with the Repeat function and with the Magic Circle function. You will learn how to draw feathers fitting any shape, by preparing a template first. It will be great to draw those gorgeous beautiful patterns yourself and use them in your computerized longarm system.
Sewing Machine Required: No

To prepare for class: watch the videos on http://www.artandstitch.com, download and install the trial version and follow the first exercises in the User Guide (open via menu Help > User Guide).

Supply List: Laptop with Art & Stitch (Trial version) loaded. Trial can be downloaded from http://www.artandstitch.com/trial.htm Tip: Bring a mouse to go with your laptop. Drawing on a laptop with just that tiny mini cursor pad is too much of a challenge!
