Thursday Classes

TH01 – My Quilt – My Rules $80
Pamela Allen One Day

The main focus of this workshop is to venture outside the conventional methods of quilting into an open-ended approach to ART MAKING with fabric. Many of the techniques are familiar to quilters....piecing, appliqué and hand embellishing. But the actual techniques used will be the servant of the imagery and concept, rather than the tyrant dictating what is or is not acceptable. No measuring, no matching points, no bias binding and no squaring up until the end! We will develop a fabric collage by freehand scissor cutting, layering of different fabrics in unlikely combinations, exploring 3-D effects by means of rolled or stuffed fabric...many and ANY other means to achieve an interesting work of art. Some interesting embellishment ideas will be explored as well. Students will be able to complete a spectacular small quilt during the course of the class. Skill Level: All.

Supply List: 9,11,12,14,15,21,24. Other Supplies: spray baste and mask (optional), embroidery floss, large hand needles (3 1/2” dollmaking needle is ideal). Fabric: selection of FQ sized pieces all types (silk, velour, rayon, velvet, cotton, recycled clothing, etc.), batting for appox. 20” quilt.
