Registration Information

A separate online account and valid email address is required for each registrant. ( DO NOT create a new account if you have previously taken classes at Road.) Telephone, fax or in-person registrations will not be accepted. (NOTE: Information regarding mail-in registration is available in the downloadable 2011 Brochure.)

A $30 non-refundable registration fee is charged each individual who enrolls in one or more classes. As a courtesy we will include a badge for admission to classes, exhibits and vendors, a show program, and entrance to Preview Night. Registrations prior to January 6th will also receive a special gift, a Road pin and/or year bar.

Email confirmations will be sent to all registrants. Please bring this confirmation to the registration desk when you check in to receive your badge and other courtesy gifts.

For any class changes, there will be a $5 transaction fee automatically applied to each class change.

The last day to pre-register by mail or online is January 6, 2011. After that date, only onsite registrations will be available.

The onsite registration desk will open Monday, January 17, 2011 at 7:30 AM.

Online Registration

Online Registration, the fastest and most efficient method, will begin on July 7, 2010 at 12:01AM PDT. Login at https://online.roadtocalifornia.com and follow instructions. DO NOT create a new account if you have previously taken classes at Road.

Please contact: info@roadtocalifornia.com for help accessing your account.

Online registrants may pay by Visa, Master Card, Discover or American Express using our secure payment system. We do not retain your credit card number.

Wait Lists

If a class is full you may elect to be added to our waiting list. You may add your name to the waiting list on any classes and/or lectures that do not conflict with classes you have already enrolled in. In other words, you cannot sign up for a class and be on a waiting list during the same time period. Waiting lists are processed on an individual first-come first-served basis. Once a seat becomes available the first person on the list will have approximately 3 days to confirm their reservation before we offer it to the next person on the list. On January 14, 2011, because of computer processing procedures, all names will be deleted from the waiting list. Any available seats will be sold at Onsite Registration on a first-come first-served basis.

Downloadable Supply Lists

To serve you better, we are using downloadable supply lists. These lists are exact lists supplied by the instructor, thereby avoiding typos and omissions when we re-type them for publication. Click on the link below the class description.

If a class includes a kit fee, the money is payable to the instructor on the day of the class.

All classes will be subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met by November 15, 2010.  Please do not purchase your supplies prior to that date.  You will be notified if your class has been cancelled.

New Sewing Machine Policy

Sewing machine rentals are no longer available. We have scheduled a wide variety of classes taught by our 2011 Road faculty in which sewing machines are provided. Technicians will also be available in these classrooms. Other classes will require that you bring your own machine. Please read class descriptions carefully.

Road to California extends its sincere thanks to the sewing machine companies and their independent dealers for providing sewing machines in select classrooms.

Classroom Guidelines

To insure that everyone receives the maximum benefit from their ‘Road’ weekend, we have established the following guidelines.

  • Please turn the sound “OFF” on all cellular phones and pagers when classes and lectures begin.
  • Please do not wear excessive perfume.
  • Dress in layers, some rooms can be cool while others are too warm.
  • Be on time. If you are late, please try to catch up quietly and do not expect the teacher to start over.
  • Bring all necessary items required on the supply list. Borrowing is distracting to both you and the other student.
  • Do not expect a teacher to take time from the class to teach you something different.
  • Do not take photographs or tape the class without consent.
  • Please do not enter classes while in session.
  • Handouts and other materials provided by the instructor are copyrighted. Please check with the instructor before sharing the workshop in any format with others.
